In the men’s contest, MIC (10-13, 7-6) relinquished a five-point cushion with 1:56 left in regulation, and the Spartans’ (9-14, 5-6) Brian Bradley knotted the count for the seventh time in the game at 78 to force the extra period. Gadles contributed six of his 21 points of the day in those five minutes and also finished up with 11 rebounds. In overtime, MIC also received a trifecta from Matt McGaughran, who posted 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting in the game. Andreas Vasiliu notched five points then en route to his 11 for the game to go along with eight boards, and Scott Chamberlain, the reigning NAC Player of the Week, grabbed 10 of his 14 rebounds in the final 25 minutes of the game.
Chris Young recorded 19 points for Castleton State, as one of six players who reached double digits.
The MIC men’s squad plays at Emmanuel College, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m., and the Mustangs women’s team travels to Wheelock College, Feb. 16. Game time is 7 p.m.
