Gwynedd Valley, Pa. — Senior Badou Gaye scored 20 points and pulled down a season-high 21 rebounds to help No. 21 Gwynedd-Mercy defeat Eastern, 71-57, Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game at the Griffin Complex.

Sophomore Chris DelBrocco netted 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting including four three-pointers.

The Griffins (19-4, 13-1 PAC) connected on their first seven shots of the game to race out to a 17-7 lead.

Eastern whittled the deficit to 31-28 on Lenny Dimaria's trey with 2:27 in the first half but two free throws from GMC before the half made it a 33-28 Griffin lead at the break.

The Eagles (8-16, 6-9 PAC) got within 55-54 with 5:53 remaining before a driving layup by DelBrocco sparked the Griffins on a 14-0 run. Joe Kilpatrick's putback off a Rashid Santiago free throw miss made it a 69-54 GMC lead with 42 seconds remaining.

Dimaria finished with 11 points while teammate Brent Voorhees led Eastern with 18 points and nine rebounds. The duo combined to make six of the team's nine three-pointers.

Gwynedd-Mercy outrebounded Eastern, 44-25, and forced 22 turnovers.
