Greenville 136, MacMurray 107

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — The MacMurray basketball team was on a nice roll with two quality wins in a row and setting alone in 4th place in the SLIAC, but that came to an end on Saturday with their 136-107 loss at Greenville College. Out rebounded 59-30 and no intensity on defense allowed the Panthers to set a new individual game scoring record and put themselves into a tie for the coveted 4th place spot in the conference. There are three games left on the regular season schedule to try to make it to the league play offs and a possible NCAA berth. Martin (31), Taylor (24), Foster (22) Turner (17) and Tucker (17) propelled the Panthers in this one-sided game. Kowa, one of the Highlander's leaders on the boards was ill, but the usual effort wasn't apparent on the defensive end of the floor. Greenville averages 71.2 points per game and they scored 76 in the first half. The Highlanders held them to 88 points in their earlier game, so MacMurray will need to make some adjustments prior to their next game on Wednesday against the Saints of Maryville. MacMurray had 5 players in double figures and only turned the ball over 13 times while forcing 21 but the over all lack of intensity made the results predictable. Greenville came to play and deserves the win.
