Wheaton grabbed hold of the lead with the first basket and never looked back. The Thunder led by as many as 15 points in the first half and held a 33-21 lead at halftime.
The Bluejays had their worst shooting half of the season in the second half, shooting just 11 percent from the floor (4-of-35). The Thunder outscored Elmhurst 30-14 in the second half and cruised to the 63-35 win.
For the game, Elmhurst shot a season-low 19.7 percent from the floor (12-of-61) and did not connect on a 3-pointer, missing all 14 of their attempts from beyond the arc. Wheaton shot 45.3 percent from the floor (24-of-53) and 27.3 percent from beyond the arc (3-of-11). Elmhurst outrebounded the Thunder 43-42 overall and 17-6 on the offensive side of the glass.
Heather Furr scored eight points to lead the Bluejays. Aja Terrier finished with six points and 10 rebounds. Jill Trenz led the Thunder with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Elizabeth Fox added 12 points and Brittany Cooper scored nine.
Elmhurst will face North Park University on Tuesday, February 15, at 7:30 p.m.
