KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men’s basketball team (11-10, 5-5 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to CCIW-opponent Elmhurst College (15-6, 7-3 CCIW), 77-74, on Saturday, February 12 at the Carthage Physical Education Center in Kenosha, Wis. Carthage led by seven points at halftime, 36-29, after leading by as much as eight points on two occasions. The Bluejays battled back to take a 41-40 lead at 15:19. The Redmen went back on top by as much as six, 52-46, at 11:47, and Carthage still led by five points, 64-59, at 5:50. Elmhurst took the lead for good, 65-64, at 4:55, and the Bluejays went on to win by three, 77-74. Carthage shot 49 percent (28-57), while the Bluejays shot 48 percent (25-52). Chris Martin torched the nets for Elmhurst with 38 points on 13-of-17 field goals, including four-of-six from three-point range and eight-of-10 free throws, along with nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. Nick Michael added 11 points and five boards for the Bluejays. Pat Kalamatas topped the Redmen with 22 points on 10-of-18 from the floor, along with six rebounds. Malik Imani chipped in 16 points. Carthage plays host to conference-opponent Illinois Wesleyan University 16-4, 7-2 CCIW) on Wednesday, February 16 (7:30 p.m.) at the Carthage Physical Education Center in Kenosha, Wis.
