DECORAH, Iowa — Randy Bissen scored 23 points and pulled in nine rebounds in a 64-54 victory for the Buena Vista University men's basketball team in its win over Luther College on Friday. The Beavers scored seven straight points in the last 15 seconds to post a ten point win that was much closer on the scoreboard for much of the game than the final score indicated. Luther had the ball trailing by three points with 45 seconds left. BVU's Michael Cameron stole a pass on the wing and later drained a three point shot with less than 15 seconds to play to put the Beavers on top 60-54. Free throws with one tick on the clock gave Buena Vista the 64-54 win after Luther was whistled for a technical foul.
Buena Vista held a 40-34 rebounding edge and shot 43 percent from the floor. The Beavers hit 12 of 14 free throws in the second half after trailing 24-22 at halftime. Cameron ended the night with 18 points.
Drew Devine led Luther with 13 points. Brandon Grimm added nine. The Norse fell to 7-15, 5-8 in the IIAC.
Buena Vista improved to 19-3, 11-2 in the IIAC. The Beavers are at the University of Dubuque on Saturday.
