Sul Ross State 90, McMurry 85

ALPINE, Tx. — Lobos Grab Big 90-85 Win over McMurry

02/10/05- Revenge was sweet Thursday night as the Sul Ross Lobos claimed a 90-85 ASC victory over McMurry at the Gallego Center. The loss is the Indians second straight dropping McMurry to 16-6 for the season and 15-4 in the ASC. The Lobos improve to 16-5 and 14-5 in conference play.

The Lobos held McMurry go-to man Travis Tennison to just 8 points for the night. McMurry had a double-double performance from Cole Dickerson with his 11 points and 10 rebounds. Terence Mirabal led Indian scorers with 15 points followed by Michael Qualls’s and Elijah Bryant’s 13 points apiece. J.R. Williams contributed 10 points in the loss.

Sid Hooper (Andrews) aided the Lobo effort with 26 points followed Rick Herrera’s (Alamogordo, NM) 20 and Larry Reese’s 13 points. Rockland Oewn’s (Wharton) hit double figures at the boards with his 10 rebounds followed by Reese’s 8 boards.

The Lobos struggled at the free-throw line hitting just 44% (15 for 34) for the evening while shooting 43% from the floor (38% from long distance).

Sul Ross will close out the 2004-2005 home season this Saturday against Hardin Simmons in a 3:00 p.m. match-up at the Gallego Center.
