Alvernia held a slim 27-26 lead after the first half shooting just 29 percent from the floor including 0-for-6 from the 3-point arc. The second half was a marked improvement as the Crusaders shot 65 percent from the floor, 13-for-20, and hit 18 of their 29 free throws after the break.
Junior forward Zach Straining scored 15 points for the Crusaders and Ryan Finger added 10 points off the bench. The Wolverines were led by Josh Kline with 17 points, got 12 from Rufus Mincy, and 11 each from Nick Minor and Robert Gordy.
Alvernia will travel to Arcadia University on Saturday afternoon to face the Scarlet Knights who are coming off an impressive win Wednesday night over Gwynedd-Mercy, the top team in the conference. The regular season will conclude for the Crusaders with senior night next Wednesday vs. Misericordia.
