With the win, Carleton (16-4, 16-1 MIAC) claimed a top two seed inthe upcoming MIAC Playoffs and the first-round bye which comes with it. Beth Freeman added 13 points and 11 rebunds for her third consecutive double-double.
Racehl Berglund paced the Wildcats (5-16, 3-15 MIAC) with 20 points, as she was 7-for-10 from the floor and 4-of-5 from three-point range. She was the only St. Catherine player in double figures. The Knights held Sarah Schneider and Natalie Lyzhoft, two of the Wildcats' leading scorers, to a combined 4-for-22 performance. Kate Bremmer, the Wildcats' second-leading scorer, played but four minutes after going down with an injury.
The Knights raced to an early 18-2 lead, as they consistently got inside baskets and open three-pointers against the MIAC's worst defense in St. Catherine. They extended the lead to as many as 20 in the half before taking a 38-23 lead at the break.
The Knights cooled a bit in the second half although Carleton Coach Tammy Metcalf-Filzen was able to play all 12 players which dressed as no starter played more than 27 minutes. The Knights built their lead to 55-33 in coasting to their 21st win over St. Catherine.
The Knights held a sizable 42-29 edge on the glass and forced 15 Wildcat turnovers.
