MacMurray 78, Webster 77JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — MacMurray College has been trying to get a good handle on their new offense this season and the last 2 games have shown significant improvement. In their 78-77 upset win over Webster last night they were able to hang on to 4th place in the conference race and have beaten 2 of the 3 teams ahead of them on the season. McIntosh led the Highlander attack with 19 points and got some help from Robinson who tallied 15 and Long with 11. It was another well-balanced attack and very good defensive effort as they truned the Gorloks over 25 times while only committing 13. While being beaten on the boards 46-27, they did hit 13-17 from the free throw line to help preserve the win. The Gorloks got 24 points from Hoggatt off of the bench and 18 from Marshall Newman and 8 rebounds each from Waterkotte and Newman but missed a last second shot that fell off the right side of the rim and was grabbed by Downham for the victorius Highlanders. It was an exciting, quality win in front of a raucous crowd and nerve wracking to the end. Next up is a road game against Greenville, on Saturday, who is also fighting for that coveted 4th place spot. It should be a hard win for either of these evenly matched clubs.
