HANOVER, Ind. — Hanover College's men's basketball team moved into a first-place tie in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings with an 83-65 victory against Transylvania University (KY), Wednesday, Feb. 9, in Collier Arena.

Hanover shot out of the gate quickly against Transylvania, which committed eight early turnovers in the contest. Lye netted six points as the Panthers built a 19-8 lead after eight and one-half minutes of play.

Finke scored six consecutive points and Riley O'Neal added four points to help the Pioneers cut the margin to 29-22 with three minutes left in the half. Lye netted four points as Hanover, which shot 53.6 percent from the floor in the first half, rallied to post a 39-26 lead at the intermission.

Hanover maintained the double-digit advantage throughout the second half. After a Minyard three-pointer, Bryan Howard sandwiched a Nick Feagan dunk with four free throws to get Transylvania within 12 points (48-36) with 14:13 remaining in the game.

However, Hanover countered with an 18-2 run to leap ahead 66-38 with 10 minutes left to play. Lanning scored eight points and Minyard added six points for the Panthers in the decisive run which, effectively, put the game out of reach.
