With the loss the Crusaders (14-7, 10-5 OAC) fall one game out of first place in the OAC. With the win John Carroll (17-4, 11-4) remains in first place with Otterbein College.
Capital started the game on a 10-2 run as sophomore point guard David Johnson hit a the three-pointer at the 17:03 mark of the first half.
The Blue Streaks would cut into the Crusaders' lead but Capital would push the lead back to eight points at the 10:27 mark when senior forward Eric Rosenbeck hit a jumper. John Carroll would then close the first half out on an 18-9 run to lead, 32-31 at halftime.
Capital's biggest lead in the second half was seven points on two occasions and the last time came with 11:45 left in the game as Rosenbeck hit another jumper. John Carroll responded the game was back and forth the rest of the way and John Carroll hit 9-of-12 free-throws in the final minute.
Senior guard David Kalb paced three Crusaders in double-figures with 12 points as Rosenbeck matched a season-high with 11 points and freshman post Jake Meisler finished with 10 points.
Brandon Mimes and Andrew Salata led the Blue Streaks with game-highs of 12 points.
