MADISON, NJ – The FDU-Florham Devils were beaten 82-73 by the DeSales Bulldogs. FDU drops to 8-13 overall and 3-8 in the Freedom Conference. DeSales improves to 16-6 overall and 8-3 in the Freedom.
FDU built an 11-point lead with 11:38 remaining in the game and were ahead 57-46. DeSales came back by scoring on nine straight possessions, including a stretch with four straight three-pointers. During that run, they outscored FDU 26-10 to take a 72-67 lead.
DeSales scored just three points over a stretch between 5:32 and 1:29, but FDU was held scoreless during that time and fell behind 76-71.
After a free-throw by DeSales’ Eddie Ohlson, FDU cut the lead to 77-73 with a layup by senior center Chris Hendershot (Vernon, NJ) with 1:18 on the clock. But that proved to be FDU’s last bucket as they missed their last three shots and DeSales made five of six free throw attempts to finish the game.
For FDU, Hendershot scored a game-high 25 points and just missed a double-double as he ripped down nine rebounds. He now has 928 career points with four games left in his two-year career at FDU.
Nate Lawrence (Willingboro, NJ) added a career-high 22 markers, knocking down a career-high six three-pointers, including shooting 4-for-6 from behind the arc in the first half.
For DeSales, Michael Venafra score 19 points. Kyle Koch added 18 markers.
The Devils will be back in action on Thursday as they host New York Maritime at 7:00 pmfor their final non-conference game.
