KERRVILLE, Texas — The Texas Lutheran men’s basketball playoff hopes took a hit Monday with a 64-55 overtime loss Monday night to ASC West last-place team Schreiner.

Schreiner’s Jarel Hall hit a jumper with 14 seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime. In the extra session, the Mountaineers hit 3-of-4 three-point attempts and six of their seven total field goal attempts.

Hall and Jonathan Young each scored 14 to pace the Mountaineers. Lance Hrncir, Justin Evans and Kevin Deans each added nine.

TLU senior post Tommy Stolhandske scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. He was 11-for-13 from the field.

No other Bulldog scored in double figures. Nik Summers added nine points and four rebounds.

The Mountaineers took the floor Monday at the Edington Center with just one win in 19 tries. Their victory over the Bulldogs moved their overall record to 2-18 and conference mark to 2-16.

Texas Lutheran fell to 12-9 overall and 11-7 in the ASC West Division. TLU came into Monday’s game in sole possession of fourth-place in the ASC West. After starting conference play 10-2, Texas Lutheran has dropped five of its last six games in the ASC West. Four of the losses have come on the road.

On Monday, Texas Lutheran shot 57.9 percent in the second half and 60 percent in the overtime, but ultimately 21 turnovers did in the Bulldogs. Schreiner took the turnovers and turned them into 19 more shots.

Texas Lutheran’s next two games also come on the road. The Bulldogs travel to Belton for Thursday’s 7:30 p.m. matchup with Mary Hardin-Baylor. Thursday’s game will be broadcast on Seguin radio station KWED 1580 AM. TLU then visits Concordia University at Austin for a 3 p.m. Saturday game.
