Chicago 86, New York University 72

CHICAGO, IL — In a game that featured 51 fouls and 62 free throw attempts, the NYU men`s basketball team fell to the University of Chicago 86-72 in a University Athletic Association game on Sunday, February 6, in the Windy City.

Starter Jason Boone fouled out after playing only 12 minutes, as the Violets were called for 29 fouls, 19 in the second half.

NYU (13-7, 3-6) led by as many as six points in the first half before settling for a 30-30 tie at halftime.

With the score tied 34-34, Chicago (9-11, 5-4) scored the next seven points and held the lead the rest of the way, increasing their advantage to a game-high 18 points three times in the game`s final four minutes.

Daniel Falcon, who picked up four fouls, shot 7-11 from the field and led the Violets with 17 points and six rebounds. Jimmy Janeczek shot 4-6 from three-point range and finished with 12 points.

Clay Carmody scored a career-high 27 points for the Maroons.

Overall, NYU was 14-26 from the charity stripe, while Chicago went 26-36.
