Carnegie Mellon went on a 9-2 run early in the first half to take the lead 18-11. The Tartans would build a lead as big as 11 before the Eagles went on a 12-4 run to end the half trailing Carnegie Mellon by three, 40-37.
Emory would continue were they left off to start the second half until the Tartans Clayton Barlow-Wilcox (Brookline, MA/Brookline) converted on a three point play to put the Tartans ahead for good at 51-48.
All five Carnegie Mellon starters were in double figures leading the way was Barlow-Wilcox recording his fifth double-double on the year finishing with career highs in points with 29 points and rebounds with 15. Barlow-Wilcox shot 13-15 from the floor. Senior Eliot Goren (Silver Spring, MS/Bullis School) finished with a season high 20 points and added four assists. Senior Michael Divens (Trafford, PA/Penn Trafford) had 14 points, junior Nate Maurer (Pittsburgh, PA/Linsly School) 13, and senior Jason Walters (Providence, RI/County Day) ended with 10 for the Tartans.
Carnegie Mellon shot 55.6% from the floor to the Eagles 43.3%. The Tartans had the edge on the glass pulling in 42 rebounds as Emory had 37.
Carnegie Mellon will be back in action Friday, February 11 as they host Brandeis University. The tip is scheduled for 8:00pm.
