St. Thomas remained in second place in the conference race, one-half game behind MIAC leader Gustavus, a 69-50 victor at St. Mary's.
Senior guard Neal Anderson had 19 points and sophomore guard Bryan Schnettler scored 14 points --all in the first half -- when the Toms raced to a 58-38 halftime lead. The Toms made 9-of-15 from 3-point range in the first half, with Anderson (5-of-6) and Schnettler (4-of-6) doing the damage.
Junior guard Sean Sweeney added 11 assists and sophomore center Isaac Rosefelt had 10 points and seven rebounds.
Sophomore guard Matt Ohme had 29 points and junior forward Paul Henrichs had 11 points and five rebounds for the Johnnies, who have lost seven of their last eight games.
The Tommies improved to 7-1 at home this season and swept the season series with St. John's by 29 and 20 points. St. Thomas also secured a winning season for the 21st time in 22 seasons.
The Johnnies used a 12-3 run to pull within 63-50 with 16:15 to play, but St. Thomas built the lead back to 29 points at 92-63 with 3:41 to play.
