AU (10-10, 4-5 Empire 8) played well, forcing 15 RIT turnovers and shooting 47 percent from the floor in the second half. The Saxons were outscored 41-25 in the first period, and RIT never cooled off, finishing the game at 52 percent shooting from the field.
Junior guard Quentin Bryant (Buffalo, NY/Seneca Vocational) was the game’s leading scorer, finishing with 26 points, including four-of-six from three-point. Junior forward Ryan Hallett (Caledonia, NY/Caledonia-Mumford) also chipped in with eight points.
Sophomore forward Ryan Clemenson (Ovid, NY/South Seneca) led the Saxons in rebounding with seven, while junior forward Todd Dersham (Campbell, NY/Campbell-Savona) and sophomore forward Jermel Brown (Wolcott, NY/North Rose Wolcott) finished with seven points apiece.
Senior forward Sean Murphy (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) led the way for RIT (13-7, 7-2 Empire 8), scoring 25 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Sophomore forward Brian Hill (Rochester, NY/Wheatland-Chili) and senior forward Kyle Goff (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively.
The men’s basketball team will be in action next on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m., at St. John Fisher College. RIT will host Nazareth College on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m.
