Hilbert 79, Medaille 65

HAMBURG, NY — Sophomore Dominic Miller had a game-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, as the Hilbert College men’s basketball team beat Medaille College for the third time this season, 79-65, on Saturday. The victory moves Hilbert College to 8-12 on the season, and 6-7 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. Medaille College remains winless on the season (0-20, 0-13 AMCC).

The Hawks led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but a late run by Medaille to finish the half cut the lead to five going into intermission. Miller led the Hawks with 11 points in the half, and Sam Gioia added nine.

After a quick 6-0 run by Medaille cut Hilbert’s lead to one with 17:22 remaining in the game, the Hawks went on a run of their own, scoring the next 17 points to build their largest lead of the game. The Hawks shot 51% from the field for the game, and outrebounded the Mavericks, 32-25.

Miller also added a team-high seven rebounds for Hilbert. Gioia finished the game with nine points, and surpassed Mike Sims for fifth place on Hilbert's all-time career scoring list (1,124 points). Sean Kenney added 20 points, while Glen Ufland came off the bench and scored 14 points and added five assists. Anthony Perioli led Medaille with 18 points.
