Haverford 86, McDaniel 61

Haverford, Pa. — Senior guard Mike Kelly hit five straight three-pointers around halftime and scored a career-high 19 points as Haverford (10-9, 9-4) grabbed a share of second-place in the Centennial Conference with its win Saturday.
Kelly made his last three-point attempt of the first half, then nailed four straight treys and a pair of free throws for 14 points in the first 4:01 of the second half as the Fords extended a 45-25 halftime lead to 64-32 with 15:59 to play. He moved past Fords assistant coach Tim Mulvaney (106) and 1994 alumnus Joe Rulewich (104) into third-place all-time at Haverford with 106 career three-pointers.
Matt Stein got the Fords off to a 16-2 lead, scoring nine of his 11 first-half points in the opening 7:37 of the game. Mark Gabriel and Jason Polykoff (five assists), added 17 and 12 points, respectively, for the game, while Jeremy Bass joined Stein with 11 points and nine rebounds. Bass and Johnny Elefterakis each handed out seven of the Fords' 23 assists.
Sam Anstead and Mike Dipiero scored 11 points each and Jemar Daniel added 10 for the Green Terror (4-16, 2-11), which was outrebounded, 44-29.
By avenging their 76-70 loss at McDaniel in January, the Fords pulled even with Johns Hopkins (12-7) and Gettysburg (12-8) at 9-4 in league play, one game behind first-place Franklin & Marshall (15-5, 10-3). Haverford next hosts Washington College (9-11, 6-7), which has won four of its last five games since losing to the Fords at home, 92-80, on Jan. 19.
