The verdict improved Franklin College to 8-2 at home this season, 6-4 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and 14-7 overall, and marked FC head coach Kerry Prather’s 350th career victory.
Following all of today’s conference action, the Grizzlies are alone in third place three games behind leader Transylvania University and two games behind second-place Hanover College. The top two teams both won handily at home. Anderson fell to 2-8 in the HCAC and 9-12 in all games.
The Grizzlies fell behind by as many as 10 points in the opening half before going on a 14-0 run to take a 29-25 run with 4:19 left in the first period. The hosts narrowly led at the break by a 36-35 count.
Anderson scored the first seven points of the second half in a two-minute stretch to take a six-point lead at 42-36 before Franklin got busy with a 16-2 run that put the hosts up 52-44 with 11:51 remaining. After the Ravens later closed to within four points at 54-50 with 8:41 to go, the Grizzlies, who shot 67 percent after halftime, bumped their advantage up to 15 with an 11-0 run. The visitors were never able to draw closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
Franklin was led by junior center Nick Kane, who scored a game-best 19 points on nine-of-13 field goal shooting. Senior guard Nick Scott quietly added 16 points and freshman guard Matt Glover chipped in a career-best 10 points, including a couple of key three-point baskets to help FC come back in the first half. The Ravens were led by sophomore forward Zach Henderson with 17 points and senior guard Andy Warren with 12.
FC, which had just 10 turnovers, out-shot Anderson 57 to 46 percent.
