Buena Vista, 17-3 overall and 9-2 in the league, is ranked 14th in the NCAA Division III and jumped to a 40-21 lead at halftime after hitting 58.6 percent from the floor. Central, 5-16 overall and 3-10 in the conference, picked up the pace in the second half, connecting on 51.9 percent but the Beavers held steady at 57.7 percent, and outrebounded Central, 33-25 on the night. BV led by as many as 30 points in the second half before the Dutch whittled the gap to 15 at 79-64, but just 52 seconds remained and the issue was not in doubt.
Forward Simeon Lang continued his recent progress, scoring 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting. He was 4-of-7 from three-point range. But next on the Central charts was forward Scott Huisman who had eight points and Brandon Vos, who came off the bench to score six.
Buena Vista placed four players in double figures, topped by guard Michael Cameron with 14.
Central is home Tuesday for a league doubleheader with Luther College. Game time is 8 p.m. at Kuyper Gym. The Norse overpowered Central at Decorah Jan. 6, 79-59.
