ST. PAUL, Mn — Bethel hits 100, too much for Oles

Ben Hande
February 5, 2005

Matt Fredrickson (Jr., Eagan, Minn./ Burnsville) had five second half three-pointers as he led the red-hot Royals over St. Olaf 100-78 Saturday afternoon in St. Paul.

Tucker Weisman (FY, Edina, Minn./ Breck) hit two threes to start the second half, helping to extend St. Olaf's four-point halftime lead to 11 in the first two minutes, but Bethel caught fire going on a 13-0 run in the next three minutes to tie the game at 53-53. That run turned into a 33 point swing as the Royals outscored the Oles 61-28 for the rest of the game.

Travis Jones (Sr., Willmar, Minn.) of Bethel had a game-high 22 points, but the story of the second half was Fredrickson who scored 17 points in the final 20 minutes.

Weisman had 13 second-half points and led the Oles with 16. Will Johnson (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn./ Trinity) and Pat Fraser (Sr., Bloomington, Minn./ Jefferson) each finished with ten points.

St. Olaf was hot in the first half going 7-of-11 from the three-point line, but committed 13 turnovers allowing Bethel to stay within striking distance.

The Oles fall to 3-13 in the MIAC with the loss and the schedule does not get any easier as they take on second place St. Thomas Monday night at home starting at 7:30 p.m.
