BELLUCCI SCORES 23 IN MEN'S BASKETBALL WIN
Golden Eagles improve to 13-5 with win over Fredonia
BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Ben Bellucci (Syracuse/Cicero North Syracuse) scored 23 points to lead SUNY Brockport to a 101-83 victory over Fredonia in a Golden Eagles' SUNYAC men's basketball game Friday night.
The Golden Eagles improve to 13-5 overall and 7-3 in the SUNYAC, while the Blue Devils fall to 7-13 on the season and 3-9 in the conference. Tonight's win was the Golden Eagles seventh game of the season hitting beyond the century mark. This is the most century mark wins Head Coach Nelson Whitmore has recorded under his tutelage. In 2001-02, his team had five games hitting the 100 point mark with a 28-3 record. Mauro Panaggio holds the school record with 11 wins hitting the century mark in 1971-72 with a 21-3 record.
Bellucci made 10 of seven from the charity line and added four rebounds for the Golden Eagles. Bryan Boswell (Amherst/Sweet Home) put in 17 pionts and had four assists, while Brandon Williams (Rochester/Edison) scored nine points and pulled down a team high 11 rebounds. David Andrews (Huntington Station/Walt Whitman) scored 13 points and had four steals in the victory.
Kyle Gordon scored a team high 17 points for the Blue Devils, while Mike Kelly put in 15 points and Chris Donahue added 12.
The Golden Eagles shot 55% for the game, while the Blue Devils shot 51%, with 60% in the second half.
SUNY Brockport will travel to Oswego tomorrow for an 8 p.m. game.
