Mississippi College 75, University of the Ozarks 72

CLARKSVILLE, AR — Four Jaszmine Eugene free throws and a three pointer from Orlando Lewis in the final 1:18 helped Mississippi College (17-2, 15-2) hold off the University of the Ozarks (9-10, 7-9) 75-72 and clinch a share of the American Southwest Conference East Division title.

Two Brad Johnson free throws with 1:35 remaining gave Ozarks a 70-68 lead, but the Eagles could not hold on for the upset. Ozarks led 39-35 at the half but watched MC open the second half with a 12-3 run to quickly take back the lead.

Eugene and Lewis finished with 12 and ten points respectively, but the Choctaws were led in scoring by freshman Tyler Winford with 18 pionts on 8-12 shooting. Willie Powers added eleven points and a team high seven rebounds.

Ozarks was led by senior guard Brent Johnson's 19 points. Brad Johnson added 18 completing 6-7 shots. Habeeb Kareem added 12.

Ozarks outshot the Choctaws 46 percent to 43 percent but committed 18 turnovers to just 13 for MC. Both teams finished with 36 rebounds.

MC made 21 trips to the free throw line making 15. Ozarks finished 18-25 from the line.
