Salve Regina 77, Eastern Nazarene 49

NEWPORT, R.I. — After six minutes of play, the score was Chris Collier, five (5), and everybody else, zero (0). Chris Collier [SR/Exeter, N.H.] led all scorers with 19 points and led Salve Regina University men's basketball to a 77-49 win over visiting Eastern Nazarene College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Thursday night.

Collier scored the game's first five points as the Crusaders didn't get on the board until the 13:54 mark with a three-point basket by Christian Corey [SO/Keene, N.H.]. Eastern Nazarene took its only lead of the game (10-9) following a jumper by Luc Jasmin [FR/Pawtucket, R.I.].

Matt Coute [JR/Somerset, Mass.] scored the next three Seahawk buckets including a three-pointer as Salve Regina regained the lead and never looked back. Coute finished with 17. Salve Regina outscored the visitors in the paint (40-18) including a pair of dunks from Jon Hazzard [SO/North Kingstown, R.I.].

Chris Goodridge [FR/Merrimack, N.H.] dished out seven assists to go along with his eight points. Salve Regina (12-8; 9-3 CCC) expanded a seven-point halftime lead with a 19-3 run to open the second half. Jay Pallotti [SO/Rocky Hill, Conn.] came off the bench to contribute nine points and six boards.

Eastern Nazarene (3-17; 2-9 CCC) was led by Corey's 14 points and Larry Kearny's [SR/Raleigh, N.C.] 13 points. The Crusaders host Roger Williams in a CCC South match-up on Saturday while Salve Regina sees Wentworth for the first time this year at the Rodgers Recreation Center (Seahawk doubleheader to be broadcast on WADK-AM 1540).
