Transy maintained its hold on first place in the HCAC, improving to 16-3 overall and 8-1 in league action. Mount St. Joseph fell to 11-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
Transy has won eight of its last nine games and 15 of 17.
Finke hit nine of 12 shots from the field and all seven of his free throws to lead all scorers. He had 12 in the first half, which ended in a 28-28 tie.
Valentine, the current HCAC Player of the Week, scored 13 of his 19 in the second half as Transy pulled away. The score was tied six times and the lead changed hands on 10 occasions.
Valentine, who tied his career high with 26 points in his last outing, hit five of eight overall and three of four from three-point range. He was six of six from the line as Transy converted on 27 of 30 free throws. The home team was just 10 of 17 at the line.
Robert Pendleton had 12 points and three assists for Transy, which came into the game with a one-game advantage over Hanover in the league race.
Nick Johnson had 16 points, hitting all five of his shots, to lead four Lions in double figures. Kevin Darthard had 15 points.
Both teams shot well, with Mt. St. Joseph hitting 49 percent from the field compared to 46.7 percent for the Pioneers. Transy had a 36-21 edge on the boards.
Transy is back in action on Saturday, hosting Bluffton in another HCAC contest. Tip-off is at 3 p.m. at the Beck Center.
