Ramapo 84, Montclair State 71

Montclair, NJ — Senior guard Amin Wright (Jersey City, NJ/Ferris) tallied a team-high 20 points and added 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists to help lift first-place Ramapo College to an 84-71 victory tonight over second-place host Montclair State University at Panzer Gymnasium. The victorious Roadrunners improve to 16-2 overall and 10-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while the Red Hawks fall to 11-7 on the year and 6-4 in league play.

There were four tie scores and nine lead changes in the first half as Ramapo held on for a 41-38 lead at the halftime, but the Roadrunners then never relinquished the lead in the second stanza in winning their 11th straight game dating back to Dec. 30. Ramapo outscored MSU in the paint, 34-18, on the night and also came out ahead in second-chance points, 21-11. The Roadrunners also shot 8-of-10 from the free throw line in the final 20 minutes, after going 0-for-4 in the first half.

Montclair State senior forward Michael Gluck (Union, NJ/Union) led all players with 22 points, shooting 9-of-15 from the field and 4-of-8 from three-point range. Ramapo senior guard Benjamin Allen (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore center Rashawn Wilson (Jersey City, NJ/Dickinson) contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds. Junior guard Jamal Ford (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) registered 11 points and three assists for the Red Hawks, connecting on three-of-four three-point tries while recording three steals.

MSU, which has dropped two of its last three after an eight-game win streak, seeks to get back on track this Saturday at Rutgers-Camden, while Ramapo hosts TCNJ.
