Fontbonne 74, MacMurray 65

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — Back on January 8th, MacMurray lost by 28 points to Fontbonne in women's basketball. Last night they lost again, but it was a 74-65 game as the Highlanders played a much better game. They trailed by 17 at one point but came back to make the game respectable as they head for Elsah and Principia for a Saturday game. Ward led the offense with 19 points, Carls 11 and Larson 10 but there just isn't enough consistent scoring from this MacMurray team to come from behind or put a lot of pressure on good teams. This was a taller Griffin team also who put up 13 more free thorws than the host school in the 9 point win. Ernst made another step in the right direction as she scored 9 points and hauled down 6 boards with 3 assists. Barkley, Evers, Wright and Reale all had double figures in the balanced attack for Fontbonne. The Highlanders defeated Principia earlier this year for their only conference win, but the Panthers at home may pose a problem for MacMurray.
