St. Davids, PA (February 2, 2005) - In a three-way tie for sixth place with Welsey College and Neumann College, the Eastern Eagles (7-13, 5-6 PAC) pulled out a huge win to improve to 5-6 in conference play breaking the stalemate. Only six teams will advance in the PAC post-season and this was one step closer for the Birds.
Leading the way for the Eagles was senior Brent Voorhees who deposited 26 second half points and finished with a season-high 36. Voorhees hit 12 of 18 field goals and was a perfect 11 for 11 from the free throw line. The 6-4 forward also had a team-high six rebounds, added two assists and a steal. Junior forward Chris McMonagle hit double-digits with eleven points and added his average four rebounds.
The game was a battle from the beginning with Eastern stretching their lead to as many as ten late in the game. Wesley ansered with buckets by Pat Woods and Nick Minor, but the Eagles sealed the win by hitting 23 of 28 free throws. Woods finished with a team-high 19 for the Wolverines, while Minor finished with 14.
Eastern will travel to Alvernia College on Saturday to finished the home and away series with the Crusaders. Alvernia was victorious in the opening match. Wesley faces College Misericordia on Saturday for a 2:00pm matchup in Dallas, PA.
