Edgewood College senior Seth Cooper entered the contest one point shy of becoming the 12th student-athlete in the history of the Eagle men’s basketball program to score over 1,000 career points. Cooper eclipsed the milestone on his first basket of the game with just over 12 minutes remaining in the first half.
The visiting Titans (7-4), who are currently ranked No. 25 in NCAA Division III by D3hoops.com, raced out to a 12-0 lead thanks to the hot shooting of Andy Jahnke. Jahnke connected on his first four shots of the game, all of which came from three-point range, en route to scoring a game-high 22 points. UW-Oshkosh shot 7-of-11 from beyond the arc in the first half. Jahnke finished 6-of-10 shooting from the field, as the Titans shot 48.9 percent as a team in the victory. Defensively, Kerry Gibson added to his team-leading blocked shot total with seven blocks on Saturday.
Cooper along with three other Eagles – Charlie Averkamp, John Fahey, and newcomer Chris DeMarco -- tallied eight points each to lead the team in scoring. As a whole unit, Edgewood College struggled shooting just 33.3 percent from the floor. Statistically, the Eagles took care of the ball better than their opponent turning the ball over 11 times compared to 15 turnovers by UW-Oshkosh. With the loss, the Eagles’ overall record drops to 6-6.
