Trinity (7-2) trailed 19-28 at the half thanks in part to a buzzer-beating three-pointer to end the first period. Trinity was held to less than 30% shooting in the half. The Tigers came out strong in the second half, though, hitting 44.4% from the field and holding the Stars to just five field goals (21.7% shooting).
Dominican held onto the lead until the 9:23 mark when Andy Bates hit a pair of free throws to tie the game at 35-35. Bates followed that up immediately with a steal and a three-pointer to give Trinity its first lead since 9:07 in the first half.
The Stars hit a big three a few minutes later, giving the visitors a 44-40 lead with five minutes to play. Trinity responded with two fast break buckets to tie the game. Ross Burt then hit a three with 38 seconds left to follow two more free throws from Bates to give Trinity a five-point lead, securing the win.
Burt finished with 18 points and six rebounds to go with his four steals, while Bates scored 16 points and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds. Bates also had four blocks and two steals in the game.
Brandon York chipped in with five points and five rebounds, as well as a team-high four assists, and Barrett Koch had six points off the bench.
