ODU struggled at the free throw line (6-19 for the game), but converted 3 of 4 from the charity stripe (including 2-2 by Massey) in the last 42 seconds to seal the win. Goerge Greene and Brian Holloway both missed 3-point attempts for GC before the clock expired.
The Panthers led The Pride 29-27 at the break. GC, which trailed by as many as 8 points in the second half, tied the game twice in the last few minutes. Greene’s 3-pointer with 3:43 left knotted the game at 45 with 3:43 left. Holloway’s free throw with 44 seconds remaining put the score 48-38.
Steve Berg (12 points) led The Pride in scoring for the second night in a row. James Newman scored 11 and Bryant Camp added 10 for GC.
For ODU (7-5), Austyn Covington had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Brain Busch grabbed a game-high 15 boards for the Panthers, which out-rebounded GC 37-28.
