Boone, who scored 15 of his 23 points in the second half, also added 11 rebounds and three blocks, including a block at 9:07 of the second half which changed the pace of the game. Leading 50-49 with 10:13 left in the contest, senior Jared Kildare tapped a loose ball to Boone, who threw it down to give the Violets (9-0) a 52-49 lead. On the defensive end, Boone blocked a shot by the Saints Brian Lindsay, grabbed the rebound, and threw a pass to junior Michael DeCorso who knocked down a three-pointer to give NYU a 55-49 lead with 9:07 remaining. Emmanuel never recovered as the Violets pushed their lead to 59-49 with 7:39 left. NYU settled for the 75-64 victory.
Junior Daniel Falcon collected 16 points and nine rebounds, while Kildare recorded 14 points, seven assists and two steals. DeCorso also added 10 points in the win. For their efforts, Boone was named tournament MVP, while Falcon was selected to the All-Tournament team. With his 10 points on the evening, Kildare has accumulated 988 points for his career.
In a first half which featured six lead changes, the Violets held the largest lead of the half, 23-15, with 7:17 remaining. Emmanuel used a 9-0 run to take a 24-23 lead with 4:52 left. The two teams traded baskets down the stretch, as NYU took a 31-30 lead into intermission.
Rob Williams-Hinton led the Saints (3-5) with 24 points.
