The winners made 25 of 28 from the free throw line and at one point midway through the second half, scored 15 of 18 points from the charity stripe.
With the victory the Vikings moved to 9-0 on the season, the best start since the 1972-73 team went 10-0. Holding just a one-point lead at halftime (28-27), Augustana was finally able to break the game open with an 11-0 run from the 12:37 mark until 7:27. In that spurt, the Vikings went from being ahead 41-40 to taking command at 52-40 with Harrigan scoring seven points. Eventually the lead would grow to 14 (63-49) with 3:03 left before a 10-2 run by the visitors to close out the game narrowed the final to six points at 65-59.
Besides Harrigan, Augustana got 15 points from Oliver Rorer on a superb night in which he was five of seven from the field and five of five from the free throw line. He added two rebounds and an assist. Jay McAdams-Thornton chipped in with 10 points. Nate Swetalla led the Vikings in rebounding with six as Augustana held a slight 27-24 edge in that department.
Rose-Hulman, which fell to 4-7 on the year, got 18 points from Munchie Muskeyvalley and 15 from Brennan Dunville. Jared Moore led the Engineers in rebounding with seven.
