Transylvania 107, Thomas More 65

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky — Playing without two starters, including its leading scorer, the Thomas More Saints were dealt a 107-65 loss by Transylvania Tuesday at Connor Convocation Center.

The lone upperclassmen in the starting lineup - senior R.K. Thurman and junior Ed Thornton - had an positive impact on the game. They combined for 27 points, 15 rebounds and four assists as they were surrounded by a host of freshman all night.

Thurman finished with a season-high 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists, while Thornton added a career-high 12 points and six boards. Freshman Mason O'Hara came up one point short of his career-high, scoring 11 points for the Saints.

Junior Michael Selm dished out a career-high four assists.

Thomas More (0-9) battled hard in the paint as the Pioneers held the slim 42-38 advantage, but Transylvania's long range shooting proved too much for the Saints. TU shot 50 percent (16-of-32) from behind the arc, while the Saints only connected on 33 percent (5-of-15).

The Saints will return to the court Friday with their annual match-up with the Norse of Northern Kentucky University.
