Junior forward Dan Walton (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) continued his torrid shooting by connecting on 12 of 18 from the field, including 5 of 6 from three-point range, en route to a game-high 30 points. On Sunday, Walton was 10 of 11 from the floor. For the season, he's now averaging 20.7 points and 6.7 rebounds (both team highs) on an incredible 78 percent shooting from the floor (62 of 80) and 75 percent from three-point range (13 of 18). For his efforts, Walton was named All-Tournament.
Anthony Simmons (Bolingbrook, Ill./Romeoville) and Ray Vicario also continued their solid play, complementing Walton with 19 points from Vicario and 14 from Simmons. Adam Teising (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) dished out six assists. Simmons and Walton each snared seven rebounds.
Ripon was paced by Bo Johnson's 18 points. Paul Wise scored 12, and Brian Schmitting finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Against Mount Marty, an NAIA school, the Cardinals' frontcourt duo of Walton and Simmons combined for 45 points and 12 rebounds. Walton had 22 points and six boards on 10 of 11 shooting from the floor. Simmons totaled 23 points and six rebounds. Also finishing in double figures for North Central was Vicario with 16 points and four assists.
Mount Marty was led by Justin Bonnichsen's 19 points. Andy Witte had 12 and Kyle Ferrie 10.
