"This was a very good college basketball game," said head coach David Schultz. "This is a game that, although the loss hurts now, can help us improve and get ready for our league season. The positive about this game is that it took a last-second shot from a very good team to beat us."
Carroll maintained a lead for the majority of the second half. Trailing 36-35 at intermission, UWO's Kerry Gibson gave the Titans a 37-36 lead on a dunk at 19:38. The Pioneers would reclaim the lead 14-seconds later and would not relinquish it until Andy Jahnke's three-pointer in the final second.
Leading 69-67 with 12-seconds remaining, Carroll junior Nathan Drury went to the line to put the game out of reach but missed the front end of the 1-and-1, after draining 10 of his previous 10 free throws.
Drury led all scorers with 33 points while his prep teammate, junior Buck Colomy, added 10 points.
"Oshkosh played zone the final 30-minutes and we were able to kick the ball out and Nate was able to knock shots down from the outside," said Schultz. "As well as he played, it's unfortunate he didn't knock down the free throws but I am very proud of our guys and the effort they gave tonight."
Gibson, UWO's 7-footer, led the Titans with 23 points, nine rebounds and six block while Jim Capelle added 17 points and eight rebounds.
The loss drops Carroll to 6-1 on the season while UWO improves to 4-3.
