Chicago 76, Augsburg 54

MINNEAPOLIS — Susie Gutowski became the sixth player in University of Chicago women's basketball history to reach the 1,000 career-point plateau as the 22nd-ranked Maroons remained undefeated with a 76-54 win over host Augsburg College on Saturday.

Gutowski finished the game with four points, giving her 1,001 for her career. Chicago's first 1,000-point scorer since Jenny Costello in 1998, Gutowski currently stands in a tie for fifth place on the school's all-time points chart.

With the victory, the Maroons improved to 9-0 to match their best-ever start to a season and the longest winning streak in the program's history. Chicago won the first nine games of the 1989-90 campaign.

Chicago led 37-31 at the break and opened the second half with a 12-2 run to build a 49-33 lead at the 15:58 mark. Augsburg (3-5) cut the gap to 53-48 with 9:32 remaining, but could get no closer as the Maroons held the Auggies scoreless for the game's final 4:58.

Jenn Kaiser and Nicaya Rapier each posted double-doubles, Kaiser with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Rapier with 15 points and 11 boards.

Nofi Mojidi led all scorers with 22 points, while Janae Winner collected 16 points, including three 3-point field goals.

Katie LaGrave led Augsburg with 12 points.
