The Fighting Blue Jays jumped out to a quick 5-2 lead, but a jumper by junior Michael DeCorso and a layup by Falcon gave the Violets a 6-5 lead. It was a lead they would never relinquish.
The Violets (7-0) held a 31-13 lead with 5:25 remaining in the first half before settling on a 37-23 halftime advantage.
Early in the second half, Polytechnic's Charles Norris connected on a three-pointer to cut NYU's lead to 49-32. However, the Violets used a 20-7 run to push the margin to 69-39 with 6:25 remaining. Freshman Michael Miller's three-pointer with three seconds remaining closed the scoring and gave the Violets their largest lead of the contest.
Falcon's 25 points came on 12-14 from the field. He also collected 11 rebounds.
Junior Jason Boone recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while DeCorso and freshman Jesse Greenberg totaled eight points each. It was Greenberg's career high.
Senior Jared Kildare amassed a season-high eight assists, while junior Chael Clark registered seven points, six rebounds and four assists.
Thomas Young lead Polytechnic (2-6) with 15 points, while Christopher Jean added 12.
