No. 15-ranked Wartburg opened the game with an 18-4 run and never looked back en route to a 95-54 win over Ashford University of Clinton Saturday, Dec. 10. The Knights (6-1) were aided to their fifth win in a row by the play of senior forward Rance Cartmill who finished with 12 points, and assist and a steal along with sophomore forward Lee Nelson who led the Orange and Black with 15 points on five three-pointers and junior forward/center Nick Gullickson who compiled 14 points, pulled down eight rebounds, blocked two Saint shot attempts and finished with three steals.
Wartburg takes it five-game win string to the Adidas D3 Desert Shootout Tuesday and Thursday, Dec. 20 and 22. The Knights open the tournament against Mary Washington College of Virgina. Both games will be available to listen to through www.go-knights.net.
