— Men's Basketball ... Warhawks Defeats Yellowjackets

UW- Whitewater defeated UW-Superior, 88-58, Saturday, December 10, 2005, at Kachel Gymnasium in Williams Center in Whitewater, Wisconsin. UW-Whitewater is ranked in the “others receiving votes” of the d3hoops.com week 2 poll.

The Warhawks dominated the first half of the game only down at 17:53, 7-4. The Warhawks finished the half at 50-34. The Warhawks also dominated the second half with the biggest lead at 80-50 and at the end of the game with the final score of 88-58. At 12:13, the Warhawks went on an 11 point run finishing with a 30 point lead at 80-50.

Whitewater was led by Mike Toellner (jr, Mayville) with 16 points, shooting 4-5 from the field and 8-11 from the line, Anthony Mlachnik (jr, Muskego) with 14 points, 5-11 from the field and 2-6 behind the arc and 2-2 from the line. Melvin Williams (F, sr, Milwaukee/Riverside) also contributed with 12 points along with Rob Perry (F, so, Milwaukee/Riverside) scoring 10 points. Andy Freund (jr, Wauwatosa/East) led the team with 8 rebounds. Whitewater 45% from the field, while Superior shot 44%. Superior was led by Leonard Cobb with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 7-8 free throws.

The Warhawks are now 5-2 overall, 3-0 in the WIAC. UW-Superior is 3-4 and 0-4.

The Warhawks' next game is Wednesday, December 14 at home against Olivet College at 7:00 in the Kachel Gym.
