Chandler, who was held to just five points in the first 39 minutes of play, scored his game-winning basket after UW-Oshkosh's Jim Capelle tied the game at 55-55 on an NBA-range three-point bomb with 19 seconds to play. Chandler also hit a pair of free throws with 29 seconds to go to give the Blue Devils a 55-52 lead.
UW-Stout (7-1/4-0 WIAC) trailed 29-24 at halftime. The Blue Devils then fell behind 32-26 at the start of the second half before rattling off 12 straight points to take a 38-32 lead with 11:15 to play. UW-Stout stayed in front of UW-Oshkosh (3-3/1-2 WIAC) until Capelle's three-point basket in the closing seconds forced the 55-55 tie. Capelle's game-tying trifecta helped the Titans rally from a 49-40 deficit with 6:23 left in the contest.
UW-Oshkosh led most of the first half and took a five-point advantage to intermission after going on an 8-0 scoring run in the last 4:28 of the period. The Titans' scoring spree featured five points from Capelle, including a three-point basket that tied the game at 24-24.
Capelle, who was making his 60th consecutive start, led UW-Oshkosh in scoring with 18 points. He also collected three rebounds and recorded three steals. The Titans also received 14 points, four rebounds and four blocked shots from Kerry Gibson, 10 points and five rebounds from Andy Jahnke and nine points, two rebounds and two steals from Nathan Wesener.
Terry Farmer, who made his first five shots from the field, led UW-Stout in scoring with 22 points. Farmer entered the game with only 16 points in his previous four contests. The Blue Devils also benefited from the 11 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots of Jacob Nonemacher and 10 points and five assists of Chandler.
UW-Oshkosh concluded the game shooting 43.2 percent (19-44) from the field. The Titans shot just 26.7 percent (4-15) behind the three-point line and only 56.5 percent (13-23) from the free throw stripe. UW-Oshkosh turned the basketball over just 10 times in the game, but was outrebounded, 29-21.
UW-Stout shot 51.2 percent (22-43) from the field and made all 11 of their free throw attempts. The Blue Devils shot 30 percent (3-10) behind the three-point line.
