Norwich 68, Johnson and Wales 55

Northfield, VT — The Cadets won their fifth straight with a 68-55 win over Johnson & Wales at Andrews Hall. Norwich is now 5-2 overall and 3-0 in GNAC play, while JWU drops to 3-3 in all games played and 1-2 in conference play.

After an 8-8 tie early on, NU outscored JWU 20-5 for the remainder of the first half. In fact, the Wildcats went scoreless from the 10:18 mark of the first half to the 2:01 mark. The Cadets led at the break, 28-13.

In the second half, Norwich led by as many as 20 points. Johnson & Wales could get no closer than the final 13-point margin.

NU junior Rene Cheatham logged a double-double, with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Sophomore Jerrold Williams chipped in 11. JWU's Brian Fernandes and Brian Bannister each scored 15 points to top the Wildcats.

The Cadets are off until January 5 when they travel to Middlebury for a 7:00 p.m. non-league contest. The Wildcats will travel to UMass-Dartmouth on December 14 for a 7:30 p.m. meeting.
