DeSales 80, Albright 65

Center Valley, PA — Four players reached double digits and the DeSales University men’s basketball team shot 57.1 percent from the field, upsetting 19th ranked Albright College, 80-65, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.

The first-half featured five lead changes and two ties before a 17-3 run midway thru the half gave DSU an 11-point lead, 33-22. During the spurt, senior Mike Zinn had seven points, one assist and a steal and fellow senior Drew Christman (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) capped the run with a trey at the 3:28 mark. DSU took an eight point advantage into the locker room and shot 62.5 percent in the opening frame.

In the second half it was all DeSales (5-3 overall). Albright (5-2 overall) got as close as five points early in the second period, but a 21-6 run gave DSU a 21-point lead with 8:29 to play and the Bulldogs never looked back. During the decisive second-half run, Zinn hit consecutive three-pointers and Christman had seven points including another trey to finish the spurt.

Christman, sophomore Eddie Ohlson and sophomore Phil Stricker each had 15 points to lead the attack and Zinn added 14 on a perfect 3-for-3 from outside the arc. Ohlson added a game-high five dimes and Stricker pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
