Southern Polytechnic State 97, Piedmont 67

Marietta, GA — The Piedmont College men's basketball team fell to 4-3 overall this evening with a 97-67 non-conference loss at NAIA power Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, GA. After SPSU jumped out to a 16-point halftime lead, the Lions were not able to get any closer than 11 in the second half.

Jake Baldwin, Kyle Kemmerer, and David Adcock each scored 10 points to lead Piedmont. A poor shooting performance and 21 turnovers hurt the Lions' cause.

SPSU finished last season ranked #2 nationally in NAIA Division-I and is ranked #20 in the lastest national poll. The host Hornets stretched out their margin of victory by closing the game with a 28-13 run over the last seven minutes.

Piedmont will wrap up first semester play with a non-conference home contest with Atlanta Christian College on Saturday, December 10th before taking a break for the Christmas holidays. Tip-off for Saturday's game is set for 4:00 in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center.
