LANGHORNE, Pa. — Senior Kris Clarkson had 27 points and 11 rebounds for his fourth straight double-double, pacing Widener to an 81-66 triumph at Philadelphia Biblical.

The Pioneers improved to 8-0 for the first time since the 1968-69 squad went 20-0.

Widener gained control with a 15-5 run over the first four minutes of the second half for a 52-37 cushion. Junior Malcolm Thomas scored six points in that stretch and senior Brandon Blakey netted five.

The Pioneers outscored the Crimson Eagles, 44-34, in the second half by shooting 59 percent (17-of-29) from the floor. Philadelphia Biblical (2-4) was limited to just 37 percent (11-of-30) shooting in that stretch and missed all six 3-pointers

Blakey poured in a career-high 19 points, hitting three 3-pointers, junior Essien Ford scored 11 points and Thomas added 10. This helped Widener shoot 58 percent (30-of-53) overall.

Chase Byler scored 19 points and Tom Arthur added 17 and nine rebounds for the Crimson Eagles.

Widener visits Division II Wilmington on Tuesday for a 7:00 pm tip-off.
