The Blue Jays and Millersville fought to a 27-27 draw in the first half. The score remained close for much of the second half, with the score tied 48-48 with 8:43 to go. From there, Elizabethtown took over and went on a 29-12 run for the remainder of the game. Elizabethtown out-rebounded Millersville 41-35 over the course of the game, and the Blue Jays went 19-for-23 (82.6%) from the free throw line against a 12-for-26 (46.2%) performance from the line for Millersville. The visiting Marauders had 12 steals against four for Elizabethtown. The Blue Jays blocked seven shots against two for Millersville, and Etown shot 27-for-54 (50.0%) from the field against 21-for-60 (35.0%) for Millersville.
Michael Schatzmann (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) came off the bench and led Elizabethtown in points with 20 and in rebounds with 10. He shot 4-for-8 from the field, 3-for-6 from three-point range, and 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Chad Piersol (Elverson, PA/Owen J. Roberts) scored 18 points for Etown as he shot 7-for-12 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free throw line. Brian Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) added 11 points and six rebounds for Etown in just 18 minutes of playing time after running into foul trouble early in the first half and fouling out late in the game. He shot 5-for-7 from the field and made his only three-point attempt. Brad Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) led Etown in blocked shots with four, and he scored 10 points on 5-for-10 shooting and pulled down five rebounds. Greg Adams (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) also scored 10 points, and he led the Blue Jays in assists with seven. Greg Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) added six assists and six points for the Blue Jays.
Millersville’s top scorer was Greg Testa (Lititz, PA/Lancaster Catholic) with 17 points, and he had three steals and four rebounds. Charlie Parker (Fawn Grove, PA/Kennard-Dale) scored 16 points and led the Marauders in assists with six. Tyree Boyd (Philadelphia, PA/Simon Gratz) added 10 points and four assists for Millersville, and he led all players in steals with four. Sherman Moye (Wilkinsburg, PA/Wilkinsburg) led Millersville in rebounds with seven and scored five points.
Elizabethtown will return to action Monday, December 19 when it hosts Cabrini College in a 7:00 p.m. game.
