DePauw 104, Illinois Tech 79

GREENCASTLE, Ind. — DePauw hit a school-record 18 three-pointers and shot 54 percent from the floor on the way to a 104-79 victory over visiting Illinois Institute of Technology. DePauw improved to 4-4 with the win, while the Scarlet Hawks dropped to 1-9.


The teams were tied early at 13-13 before the Tigers scored nine straight to take the lead for good. DePauw shot over 60 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes and knocked down 12 of 21 threes to take a 61-40 lead at the break. A 10-2 run at the start of the second half pushed the lead to 29 at 71-42.

Alex Stewart paced the Tigers with 25 including a 7-of-10 performance from three-point range. Stephen Schott followed with 17 points with Reid Sakel adding 16 and Austin Brown following with 12. Mike Moore scored nine points and dished out a game-high nine assists and Stewart recorded three steals. DePauw held a 43-31 advantage on the boards and were paced by Brown, Brian Oilar and Schott with seven each.

Robert Lucky notched a game-high 26 and added 11 rebounds, while Ayo Ayodele added 24 points and eight rebounds. Mike Stohl followed with 17 points.

The Tigers connected on 54.4 percent from the field and connected on 18-of-30 three-pointers, while the Scarlet Hawks shot just under 39 percent for the game and knocked down 10 of 26 treys.
