Utica 101, Cazenovia 70

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. — The Cazenovia College Wildcats men’s basketball team was defeated by the Utica College Pioneers 70-101 in their Thurs., Dec. 8, non-conference matchup. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 2-5 on the year and remain 1-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Utica, who led the entire game, moves to 5-1 on the year with the win.

The Pioneers found remarkably even scoring and contributions from their entire roster over the course of the game. Four of the five Utica starters scored in double-figures and every Pioneer participant recorded at least one rebound.

Kafele Flemming led the way for the Pioneers. He scored a team-high 17 points and recorded three rebounds in 19 minutes of playing time. Ray Bryant scored 14, pulled down a team-high six rebounds and dished out a game-high nine assists for the Pioneers.

Cazenovia was led by forward Bryan Bishop (’06, Watertown / South Jefferson HS). Bishop ended the game with a game-high 20 points, six rebounds and three assists. A season-high for Bishop, he was 9-14 from the floor on the day.

The Wildcats are next in action on Sat., Dec. 10, when Philadelphia Biblical University visits the Cazenovia College Athletics Center. A NEAC doubleheader, game time is slated for 1:00 PM and will be followed by the Cazenovia women’s game at approximately 3:00 PM.
